Travelling: Reaching A Coruña

A Coruña is located in the north-west of Spain and can be easily reached by plane or by high-speed train. For international travellers, the most convenient options are usually flying directly to A Coruña Airport (LCG), travelling through Madrid, or flying to Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport (SCQ).

By plane to A Coruña

A Coruña has its own airport, A Coruña Airport (LCG), located just outside the city.

At the time of writing, the airport has direct connections with Madrid, Barcelona, Geneva, and Milan (Malpensa). Madrid and Barcelona provide convenient connections with a large number of international destinations (see current destinations at A Coruña Airport).

From the airport, bus line 4051/A4 connects directly with the centre of A Coruña. Stops include Plaza de Orense, Marina, Puerta Real and Hospital Abente y Lago (See A Coruña Airport bus information).

Taxis are also available outside the terminal. There is no fixed airport-to-city fare; the final price depends on the taximeter and applicable supplements, but you can expect the journey to cost around €20 (See A Coruña Airport taxi information).

By train from Madrid

A Coruña is directly connected with Madrid by high-speed and long-distance trains operated by Renfe (check Madrid–A Coruña trains on Renfe).

Trains depart from Madrid Chamartín Clara Campoamor station and arrive at A Coruña-San Cristóbal station. Depending on the service, the journey typically takes approximately 3.5–4 hours. A Coruña-San Cristóbal station is located within the city.

By plane to Santiago de Compostela

Another convenient option is Santiago-Rosalía de Castro Airport (SCQ), approximately 70 km from A Coruña.

Santiago Airport has a wider range of international connections than A Coruña Airport. Current destinations include Amsterdam, Basel, Brussels-Charleroi, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, London (Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted), Paris-Orly and Zurich, in addition to numerous Spanish destinations (see current destinations at Santiago Airport).

There are several ways to travel from Santiago Airport to A Coruña:

  • Bus + train or bus: Bus line 6A connects the airport with Santiago de Compostela (see bus connections from Santiago Airport). From Santiago, regular railway (Renfe website) and bus services (Monbus webstite) connect with A Coruña.
  • Taxi: Taxis are available at the airport. A taxi from Santiago Airport to A Coruña typically takes around 50–60 minutes and you should expect to pay approximately €100–€125, depending on the service, time of day and destination within the city.
