Call For Papers

BCI 2026 accepts original papers dealing with both theory and/or practical aspects of wide areas of ICT are solicited.

The general areas of interest include all topics listed below:

• Computer systems organization
• Hardware
• Networks
• Software engineering
• Theory of Computation
• Mathematics of computing
• Information systems
• Human-centered computing
• Computing methodologies
• Applied Computing
• Social and professional topics
• Natural Language Processing, LLMs

Papers reporting on developments, reviews, proposals, and project on Information Technology in South-East Europe in the following areas are also solicited:

  • Governance (e.g. systems in place, policies, etc)
  • Education (curricula issues, secondary and higher education, etc)
  • Professional Issues (e.g. employment, Computer Societies, entrepreneurship, etc)
  • European ICT Priorities (e.g. enterprise, smart specialization, aging, etc)

Original contributions are solicited for the following categories:

  • Full research papers (15 pages at max) describing research accomplishments
  • Short research papers (10 pages at max) i.e., experience reports, project overviews, etc., which do not fully adhere to the standards of a first-rate scientific publication but are nevertheless of interest and value for the participants of the conference.

Research papers should be original contributions and should not be accepted or submitted elsewhere until the decisions of the BCI 2026 program committee are announced.

For every accepted paper to be presented in the conference and published in the proceedings, at least one author must make a full registration

Authors should consult Springer’s Instructions for Authors of Proceedings and use either the LaTeX or the Word templates provided below for the preparation of their papers.

All paper submissions for BCI 2026 will be via Microsoft CMT (under Main Conference Track).

The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.

The conference Proceedings will be published and indexed by the Communications in Computer and Information Science (Springer CCIS) .

A selection of high-quality papers presented at the 12th Balkan Conference in Informatics (BCI 2026) will be invited for submission of extended versions for possible publication in internationally recognized and indexed scientific journals, including SN Computer Science published by Springer and Digital published by MDPI, subject to further peer-review and journal-specific editorial criteria.
